NOK, which stands for Nugget of Knowledge is a personal project that came about after a visit at a small gallery in Greenwich Village in New York City.
The first time I walked into Frantiques Gallery, I felt like I stumbled into an impromptu art lecture given by the owner - Laurent. He was in the middle of a passionate explanation about the precision and unprecedented techniques of one Karl Blossfeldt - a teacher that used his home-made camera to capture patterns found in nature as a teaching tool for his design students. I began to visit the gallery frequently, pointing at whatever piece of art I see, expecting, and receiving, fascinating facts about the artist, their techniques, place in Art history and personal story. In an attempt to add meaningful and interesting (to some) voice to social media discussions, I thought it would be a fun experience to translate these nuggets of knowledge into moving pictures.
The result is NOK.
